ZOLAND RESORT HOTEL

ZOLAND is a luxury mountain sanctuary hidden deep in the forests of Mount Emei, within the UNESCO World Heritage sacred site. The name is drawn from the Chinese character 岚 - mountain mist rising through the trees: an apt evocation for a place that is as much an inward journey as a physical refuge. Founded in 2025, the 岚域 brand opens its first property here, steps from Qingyin Pavilion, across a five-acre estate articulated into seven independent courtyard structures.

The project is signed by Justin, lead architect of MDO Design Studio. Inspired by traditional Western Sichuan dwellings, these seven autonomous structures have been reinterpreted and woven into the terrain: 29 rooms, a restaurant, a wine cellar, wellness and treatment spaces, and areas dedicated to contemplation. The materials speak for the place, mountain stone, timber, silence, and the architecture dissolves into the forest rather than standing apart from it.

Zoland draws on the deep tradition of the Chinese literati, for whom mountain dwelling was a path toward inner independence and spiritual clarity. It is this philosophy — a humanistic approach to mountain living, that governs the full experience: accommodation, dining, treatments, multisensory encounters.
